HYANNIS- At approximately 10:30pm Barnstable Police dispatched multiple cruisers to an address on Old Strawberry Hill Road for a report of large group carrying bats creating a disturbance.
One witness told Hyannis News that the group consisted of mostly young men, many reportedly wearing white tee shirts… the witness went on to say that there were at least 15 to 20 individuals all intent on damaging the property and attacking members of the household… they carried bats, sticks, rocks and at least one person at the residence was struck during the attack.
Cars parked at the property received the brunt of the damage, windows were smashed and side panels dented. One member of the angry group threw a shovel through the passenger window of one of the vehicles.
A Barnstable County Identification Officer was summoned to the scene to take photos and help collect evidence.
Meanwhile Barnstable Officers were searching the area’s streets for suspects. A K-9 unit was called to the scene and was responsible for at least one capture.
At least two individuals were captured and positively identified as being aggressors in the attack (see video). According to radio chatter, they will likely be charged with Assault and Battery, Breaking and Entering during the Nighttime, Malicious Destruction of Property- "Over" (felony), and possibly other offences.
