NEWS BRIEF: Home Surrounded, Possible B&E in Progress

HYANNIS- Barnstable Police cruisers surrounded a home with their lights off near the intersection of South Street and Pine Ave at midnight.  Officers responded quickly after dispatched spoke with a neighbor who reported hearing glass breaking at the South Street residence.  Police were hoping to catch the suspect(s) in the act. 

  

A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene when police learned that a screen had been slashed and a window had been shattered.  Officers and K-9 searched the scene and surrounding area, but the suspect had managed to flee just prior to their arrival.  The neighbor who reported the crime thought she possibly heard a car door slam- the suspect possibly fled in a vehicle.

  

A Barnstable County Identification Officer was called to the scene to take photos and collect evidence.

  

The crime is currently under investigation by the Barnstable Police.
