HYANNIS- At approximately 3:30am Barnstable Police received a phone call from a person stating that they observed two males breaking a store window in the area of Main Street and Basset Lane.

First officers at the scene discovered a break-in at 569 Main Street.  The display window at Fresh Fashions had been smashed in.  Officers investigated further and discovered that the perpetrators had just fled on foot down an alley way towards South Street.

K-9 Officer Troy Perry was called to the scene and started tracking.  In an adjacent backyard to the rear of the store he soon discovered a coat hanger belonging to the store.

Back at the scene officers discovered that at least one of the thieves cut themselves on the broken glass.

A store caretaker arrived and discovered that various articles of clothing had been stolen from the store.

Officers investigated the crime scene for evidence that could identify the thieves.

The K-9 gave police a good idea of the thieves’ initial direction of travel, but ended all of a sudden after about 45 minutes of searching.

The Break-in is currently under investigation by the Barnstable Police.
