DENNIS - The Dennis Police Auction of unclaimed property went off on time Saturday morning 10:00 AM. town facilities maintenance building next to the former Dennis DPW building located at 30 Bob Crowell Rd. in South Dennis.

HyannisNews arrived shortly after 10:00 AM to find cars parked everywhere on the premises and across the street. The garage was already packed with bargain hunters of all ages examining the merchandise. There was sort of a family flea market atmosphere.

The big prize in my opinion, was a Dell Flat Screen TV that appeared new or nearly new. It even had the box with it. There were also laptop computers, monitors, printers, dozens of bicycles, tools, and a host of other assorted items even windows possibly stolen from some house somewhere under construction.

All of the items were tested to be sure they were working before offered, but there was a disclaimer that there are no guarantees on any of the merchandise.  All items are sold as-is. We did not stay around for the bidding process but regardless of who won or lost it seemed to be a good family activity.
