HYANNIS- Wednesday- At approximately 12:40am Barnstable Patrol Officer Jack Corbett was making a routine traffic stop at the intersection of West Main Street and Pitchers Way when the operator suddenly jumped from the vehicle and began to flee on foot. The Nissan Maxima he was driving continued up over the curb and landed down an embankment lodged in some bushes in front of Papa John’s Pizza.
Officer Corbett was radioing headquarters when the fleeing suspect jumped into a second vehicle driven by his girlfriend accomplice.
Officer Corbett, with the assistance of Officers Mark Palmer and John Campbell, caught up to the second vehicle a short distance away on Pitchers Way.
A very uncooperative male suspect needed to be pepper sprayed while officers placed him custody. The female operator of the second vehicle was also arrested for disorderly conduct.
During the struggle officers caught some of the pepper spray themselves. Hyannis News inquired about their condition at the scene and thankfully all officers seemed to be alright.
Meanwhile back at the scene of the initial traffic stop, Officer Jay Sturgis took photos and searched the vehicle.
Officers Desruisseax, Estey, Perry, and Lieutenant Jason all assisted with the complicated scene.
