SOUTH YARMOUTH- On Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 10:37 PM—the Yarmouth Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance at 3 Aspinet Road.

The caller reported a male and a female arguing and that the male had assaulted the family cat.

Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers Raymond A. Scichilone and Mark F. Noone arrived at the residence and met with a female who was emotionally upset.  The female was not injured but stated that she was concerned about the well being of her cat.  She explained that her boyfriend had just advised her of abusing the cat earlier in the day and also on a previous occasion and that he has since left the residence.

The female further told the officers that when she came home, the cat was wet and smelled like urine and was hiding under the couch. She also reported that it had an injury to its chin and was missing a tooth.

The cat—named Tatianna—a 2-year old female was not suffering from life threatening injuries and plans were made to bring it to her veterinarian.

Patrol Officer Scichilone located fresh bloodstains in the bathroom and some lose fur on the floor.

A short time later, the suspect arrived at Yarmouth Police Headquarters in West Yarmouth.  He was interviewed and placed under arrest.  He was arraigned in the Barnstable District Court today.
