MARSTONS MILLS - There is a massive search underway in the area of Mystic Pond and Sawmill Road. At about 7:00 PM- Wednesday-  it all started routinely enough when a cruiser was dispatched to a Sawmill Road residence in regard to a missing person report. From that point it all escalated rapidly.

According to initial reports the missing person was believed to be a 16 year old male but it was later confirmed that the missing person is actually 24 years old. Reportedly his keys and wallet were found in or near where he was last believed to be.

Every few minutes more resources were dispatched to the area including the Barnstable Police Command Center, Barnstable County Sheriff's Identification Officers, COMM Fire Rescue, Strategic Response Team, K-9 Officers, and other resources from the surrounding area.

HyannisNews has been at the scene since about 8:00 PM and Rob Bastille is calling in updates as they happen. He spoke briefly with Deputy Chief Craig Tamash who confirmed that the missing person is a 24 year old male but they do not know if he is in the water, the woods, or where he is at this time...

The search continues under extremely dark conditions. There is little or no light out there Bastille reported.

WEEKEND UPDATE: Search Officials have finished their search of Middle Pond and part of Mystic Lake.  They will continue their search of Mystic Lake sometime next week.
