Safety Violation Leads to Drug Arrests

On Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 2:43 PM—Yarmouth Police Patrol Investigator Scott Lundegren and his partner Patrol Officer Justin Haire—observed a 1992 Chevrolet K1500 SUV traveling east on Route 28 with an expired safety inspection sticker. 

The Patrol Officers stopped the vehicle and observed an open bottle of beer on the floor of the vehicle.  Both subjects in the vehicle stated that they had been drinking but that they were both over the age of 21 and not intoxicated. 

As the operator exited the vehicle—a clear plastic bag of marijuana was observed on his front seat.  A check of the passenger revealed several individually packaged crack cocaine rocks and pills in a baggie in his pants pocket. A field test of the drugs by the use of a narcotics test kit confirmed the presence of cocaine—marijuana—and opiates. All drugs were seized as evidence along with $140 cash. 

Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters and subsequently transferred to the Barnstable District Court for arraignment.

Arrested were the operator Kedrick K. Edwards—Age 29  of 83 Lafrance Avenue, Hyannis MA. He was charged with Possession of Open Container of Alcohol and Possession of Class D .

The passenger Roderick T. Brown—Age 25   of  4333 Thistleway Drive,  Memphis, Tennessee . He was charged with  Felony Possession of Class A Drugs with Intend to Distribute, Felony Possession of Class B Drugs with Intend to Distribute
