Suspended License Leads to Illegal Drugs and Money Seizure

YARMOUTH- On Friday, July 13, 2007 at 11:50 AM—Yarmouth Police Detective Eric H. Nuss observed a subject known as having a suspended drivers license operating a Toyota Avalon eastbound on Route 28.

  

Detective Nuss stopped the vehicle as it pulled in to the parking lot of Nick’s Barber Shop on Route 28 in West Yarmouth.  Nuss confirmed the operator’s identity and license status and placed him under arrest.  Yarmouth Police Patrol Investigator Christopher Van Ness arrived and transported the suspect to Yarmouth Police Headquarters.

  

An inventory of the vehicle prior to impoundment revealed a clear glassine baggie of cocaine powder and a similar baggie of marijuana.  With the assistance of Deputy Charles Young of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and his canine Morgan—four additional individual baggies of cocaine was found inside the driver compartment area.

  

$2,331.00 cash was seized from the suspects’ pants pocket and seized as evidence of illegal drug distribution.

  

After the completion of the booking process the suspect was transported to the Barnstable District Court for arraignment.
