Falmouth Man Arrested in Dennis on Illegal Firearms Charge

At approximately 6:41am on Sunday morning July 15, 2007 Patrolman David Tinelli, while conducting radar traffic enforcement on Route 134 in South Dennis observed a 1994 Lexus ES300 sedan traveling at a high rate of speed toward Route 6.

At this time Patrol Officer Tinelli attempted to stop the vehicle and as he did he observed the driver begin reaching into various parts of the vehicle. 

The vehicle eventually stopped (approximately ¾ mile from the violation) and the operator, identified as Elias White, 32 years of age, of 232 Lake Shore Dr. Falmouth, was removed from the vehicle and searched.  During the search Patrol Officer Tinelli found five (5) .12 guage shotgun shells in Mr. White’s pants pockets and an additional one in the rear seat of the vehicle. Investigation also revealed that Mr. White had an outstanding arrest warrant, issued by the Barnstable District Court charging him with several motor vehicle violations as well as a Restraining Order barring him from possessing ammunition and firearms. Mr. White was placed under arrest and a search of the vehicle revealed a loaded .12 guage shotgun in the trunk. 

Mr. White is being held without bail and is being charged with Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, Violation of a Restraining Order, Operating a Vehicle under the Influence of Alcohol and Speeding.  Mr. White will be arraigned in Orleans District Court on Monday morning July 16, 2007.
