Video footage begins with an incident last week where police needed to deal with the same juvenile involved in last night's altercation... it continues with footage of a "slow night" in Hyannis...

HYANNIS- It was a relatively quiet night in Barnstable last night.

Aside from the usual traffic stops, loud parties, warrant arrests, and domestic-type disturbances, Barnstable Police were seemingly able to enjoy a rare “break in the action.”

Hyannis News, however, was on scene for several notable calls:

ONE DETAINED AFTER BRIEF MAIN STREET FISTICUFF – At approximately 10:45pm several Barnstable Cruisers needed to respond to the intersection of Basset and Main Street for an altercation between several local juveniles as tourists looked on from behind ice cream cones and adult beverages.  First officers at the scene detained one young man, placing him in the back of a cruiser while they investigated further.

Officers were familiar with all involved, and they apparently deemed that arrests were unnecessary, sending all involved in separate directions.  No one was injured and all involved in the fray seemed content with catching a break for the time being.

SERIOUS COLLISION, NO ONE INJURED, ONE ARRESTED FOR DRIVING DRUNK – At approximately 11:30pm Police and COMM Fire responded to the intersection of Old Stage Road for a collision involving a pickup and passenger vehicle.

Initial reports of injuries turned out to be false.

Fire Fighters were on scene to aid in clean up of vehicle fluids… An Identification Officer was called to take photos of the scene.

After a field sobriety investigation a female operator was transported to the Barnstable Police Facility under arrest for drunk driving.

AGITATED MILK THIEF SHOWS UP AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS – CENTERVILLE - At approximately 4:10am Barnstable Officers responded to a call where a Centerville man allegedly assaulted the Seven Eleven store clerk on Route 28 and made off with an undisclosed quantity of MILK.

After allegedly creating a ruckus, and driving over the store’s landscaping, the suspect fled the scene in ’99 black Toyota Forerunner, only to show up in the lobby of the Barnstable Police Facility apparently angry and wanting to talk about it… the officer back at the scene radioed the station and confirmed that there was Probable Cause for Arrest.

Further details regarding this incident were not immediately available.
