“Police Investigating Serious Injury Crash”

SOUTH YARMOUTH- On Friday, August 10, 2007 at 6:27 AM—the Yarmouth Police Department received multiple emergency 911 phone calls reporting a motor vehicle crash on Great Western Road.

Yarmouth Police and Fire Department personnel converged on the scene and discovered that a two-vehicle crash had occurred and the operator of a nearby golf course maintenance vehicle was seriously injured.

Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers immediately secured the perimeter—established the crash zone—detoured traffic—and initiated an on-scene investigation.  The preliminary investigation indicates that a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria—operated by Tanner H. Paulini—age 22 of Harwich—crashed into a Blue Rock Golf Course maintenance vehicle operated by a 52-year-old employee from South Dennis.

The golf course employee was catapulted from the vehicle and is suffering from severe head injuries.  After being treated at the scene by members of the Yarmouth Fire Department he was taken by MedFlight helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers Justin Haire and Andrew O’Malley are currently investigating the crash with assistance from Barnstable Police Patrol Officer Brian Murray of the Cape Cod Regional Crash Reconstruction Team and Crime Scene Investigator William Jacques of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department.

Additional information will be made available at a later time.    (This media release was prepared by Yarmouth Police Department Lieutenant Steven G. Xiarhos—Patrol Force Commander)
