11:00pm UPDATE: Hyannis News has just learned from Barnstable Patrol Officer Matthew Lounsbury that the suspect, RICHARD FITE, is now in custody at the Barnstable Police Facility.
CENTERVILLE- The Barnstable Police Department is currently investigating an aggravated Domestic Abuse incident that occurred at a residence in the area of Pine Street last night.
The Suspect Richard Fite, age 47, entered his girlfriend’s dwelling at approximately 11:30pm on Wednesday and began to argue with her. Fite then reportedly assaulted the victim several times and physically prevented her from calling the police.
The victim was held against her will overnight and throughout the early morning hours until the suspect eventually left the house.
The victim then saw the opportunity and was able to leave her home and flag down a passing motorist for assistance.

Patrolman Matthew Lounsbury was one of the first of two patrol units to arrive at the scene and is the primary officer in this ongoing investigation. He immediately put out a description of the suspect and summoned rescue to evaluate the victim's injuries. The woman eventually needed to be transported to Cape Cod Hospital.

Shift Supervisor/Sergeant Mark Mellyn was requested on scene, indicating the severe nature of the incident.

Barnstable Patrolman Sean Roycroft and his tracking dog "Cole" were also immediately called in to search the area.

A Barnstable County Identification was called from the "bureau" for photos and to assist with investigating the crime scene.
Fite is wanted for numerous charges including Kidnapping and Domestic Assault & Battery.
Fite also has additional charges pending from a separate Domestic Assault and Battery which reportedly occurred against the same victim this past Saturday.
RICHARD FITE is a WHITE MALE, 47 YEARS OLD, 5’10”, 165 lbs, BALDING WITH GRAY HAIR.
As of 4:00pm Officer Lounsbury was still working this ongoing investigation, processing additional arrest warrants into the system. Barnstable patrols and officers from surrounding agencies are actively searching for this dangerous individual.
