On Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 9:46PM—the Yarmouth Police Department responded to a burglar alarm at the West Yarmouth Library on Route 28 in West Yarmouth.
Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers George Tsoukalas arrived at the scene and found a freshly broken window near the front door and the front door unlocked. Patrol Officer Tsoukalas requested additional assistance and fellow Patrol Officers Kevin Antonovitch—Raymond Scichilone—Sean Brewer—and Michael Zontini, as well as Patrol Sergeant Francis Hennessey arrive on scene and immediately established a secure perimeter.
A few minutes later, Yarmouth Police K9 Officer Marc Thibeault and his partner Clark arrived and initiated a check of the building and surrounding areas. While conducting the search—Patrol Officer Brewer encountered a young male on a nearby street with a fresh cut on his right forearm. The young male was identified and his footwear impressions matched those found on a piece of paper at the entry point at the library. The young male subsequently admitted to committing the break in and was placed in custody.
Crime Scene Investigator Timothy Wallace of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department arrived and assisted in crime scene photography and evidence collection.
At Yarmouth Police Headquarters—Yarmouth Police Detective Charles Peterson interviewed the young male in the presence of his mother. As a result of the interview the young male will also be charged with several other crimes that recently occurred in the neighborhood involving breaking into a boat and the Keltic Kitchen restaurant.
He is scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable Juvenile Court this morning.
