On Saturday, October 6th 2007—the Yarmouth Police Department will conduct a child protection identification program at the annual Town of Yarmouth Seaside Festival fairgrounds from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The free event is open to all members of the public and will feature the Masonic Child Identification Program (CHIP) specially designed for children in age groups of K-12.

CHIP provides parents with four methods for finding and identifying their children:

  • Tooth print impression

  • DNA swab

  • Videotape interview with the child

·         Child’s fingerprints

Parents retain all the materials for safekeeping.

This important event is part of a unified child protection effort occurring throughout New England and is sponsored by the Massachusetts Freemasons—the Massachusetts Dental Society—the Massachusetts Crime Prevention Officers Association—and the Yarmouth Police Department. Well over 200,000 children in Massachusetts have already participated.

For additional information—please contact Yarmouth Police Lieutenant Steven G. Xiarhos at 508-775-0445 extension 150 or visit the CHIP web site at www.mychip.org
