HYANNIS – Monday - approximately 12:30am - Multiple Barnstable Police units quickly responded to at least two reports of a man down and bound inside the Bank of America terminal at the Kmart Shopping Plaza on Route 132.

A local tow truck driver made the call after seeing what appeared to be man down with his hands tied behind his back.  Upon closer inspection the seemingly bound man got up and fled the area.  About 100 yards away the tow truck driver approached the man a second time, he was lying on the ground, hands still apparently tied behind his back.  Again, the possibly distressed man got up and fled the area as concerned witnesses approached.  One witness saw that the suspicious man did not actually have his hands tied behind his back, but was only faking it…

Not exactly sure whether this had been a robbery attempt, a hoax, or just a local drunk… multiple police fanned out and searched the immediate area.

The suspicious man was apparently long gone.

ADVISORY:  Be extra careful of suspicious individuals in and around ATM machines… especially near secluded ATM areas late at night.  Should you find a seemingly distressed or stricken individual in or around one of these areas, it would be wise to notify the police and keep your distance.
