Jason Bay State Celebration

BOSTON – Manny who?

Fenway Park turned out to be the 'safest port a storm,' as Sox fans joyously welcomed Bay… left fielder Jason Bay, a former Pirate, to be more exact.

Or should I say ‘Jason’ welcomed us after he took a sea of Fenway faithful as a prize.

Bay couldn’t have made a better Fenway debut, tripling and scoring the winning run in the 12th inning of last night's 2-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

The Sox had recently been plagued with losses, losing 5 of the last 6, when their new left fielder and recent Pittsburgh trade also managed to walk on five pitches, making it to 3rd after a J.D. Drew double, and scoring on Lowrie’s sacrifice fly earlier in the game.

But the highlight of the extra-evening was when Bay crossed the plate, pumping his fist, placing Boston on its latest winning streak, fans and hotdog venders alike, standing in ovation, broken hearts momentarily forgetting their pain…

…Manny some goofball nightmare,

Epstein’s decisive checkmate…

…jubilation throughout Sox Nation.

  • Not to mention the times this Sponge Bob character showed up late for spring training... whatta squid.

  • Bob, Manny was a great guy! Just because he faked injuries, dodged all good rhp's, makes 20 million a year, lies to players, management who bent over backwards for him, ....them all of a sudden after he found out he was traded, wanted to stay....these are no reasons for us to hate him! Next time we should just pay him more, 20 million was not enough these days with inflation, he wants 100 mill 4 years.
