HYANNIS- At approximately 9:20pm Barnstable Police responded to the area of Old Colony and Gosnold Street for what was described as a disturbance involving several men and two vehicles. Dispatch also reported that one of the individuals was allegedly heard saying something about a gun.
A description of the vehicles was also given out to cruisers as they searched the area.
Moments later K-9 Officer John Campbell stopped a white F-150 pickup truck in the parking lot of 450 South Street at the intersection of Sea Street. Upon further investigation, Officer Campbell discovered that the driver had sustained serious injuries from an altercation; rescue was summoned to the scene.
Sergeant Ben Baxter and Officer Daniel Ruth arrived at 450 South Street to conduct an investigation. They discovered that the man in the white truck had allegedly been badly kicked and beaten.
The operator was removed from the truck, secured on a stretcher and transported to Cape Cod Hospital.
Police are looking for 2 males and 1 female who drove off in a green Grand Am bearing a Massachusetts registration plate which may contain “36 AC…” (A witness was unsure about the remainder of the plate).
The suspects are wanted for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Shod Foot.
It is still uncertain whether or not this may have been a “road rage” incident or something more complicated.
