On Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 12:15 PM Yarmouth Police Patrol Investigator Scott Lundegren stopped a suspicious 2006 Nissan Altima at the intersection of Station Avenue and Whites Path in South Yarmouth.

A computerized check of the vehicle operator indicated that he had 5 outstanding arrest warrants.  With the assistance of fellow Patrol Officer James Cheverie, Patrol Investigator Lundegren advised the operator that he was under arrest for the outstanding warrants.

While in the process of placing him in custody, the suspect suddenly broke free and ran off. Officers Lundegren and Cheverie chased the suspect southbound on Station Avenue through heavy vehicle traffic and into the parking lot area of the Grand Union Shopping Plaza.

As the suspect continue to run and ignore the officer’s commands to stop, two concerned citizens—Jeremiah Cruz of Barnes Tree Service and Stephen Winslow of Winslow Plumbing and Heating—helped to stop and take down the suspect and assisted the officers in placing him in custody.

The suspect was transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters and later transported to the Barnstable District Court for arraignment.
