HYANNIS- At approximately 8:30pm Barnstable Police were notified regarding a man urinating right outside of the Cumberland Farms on West Main Street.

The man was standing near the front of the building beside the payphone.  The parking area was completely occupied with vehicles, shoppers, and diners heading to local restaurants.

Police dispatch notified cruisers that a black Ford 150 with one male occupant was driving east from the scene toward the West End rotary.

Reports eventually directed police toward East Main Street where the vehicle was stopped just east of Parkway Place.

Patrolman Timothy J. McPeck, along with a road supervisor Sergeant Kevin Tynan, had the male operator attempted several field sobriety tests.  The operator was subsequently placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence.

The suspect was transported to the Barnstable Police Facility where he may be facing additional charges.  Police also booked the witnesses information, who may be summoned into court to help prosecute the suspect.

The Black Ford 150 was eventually towed from the scene.
