The Steamship Authority's new Fast Ferry "Iyanough" is scheduled to start regularly scheduled high-speed service to Nantucket departing from the Steamship Authority South Street Docks in Hyannis at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
The 154 foot, $9.7 Million Dollar, 393 passenger high-speed ferry Iyanough is the newest addition to the fleet of the Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority.
The Iyanough is state-of-the-art stem to stern, and includes high Speed Wi-Fi Access while at the dock and at sea and power outlets are provided for passengers at most tables to charge laptops while in use, and high resolution flat panel wide-screen video monitors are conveniently positioned around the interior of the vessel for passenger information and entertainment.
Last Sunday, the Steamship Authority hosted a family day for Steamship Authority employees and their families immediately followed by an open house for the public to inspect the new vessel. Sergei Hryva of West Yarmouth attended and is shown enjoying a soft drink as he relaxed in one of the comfortable passenger seats on the first tier aboard the Iyanough.
Starting March 28 thru May 14th, the Iyanough is scheduled to depart Hyannis at 8:00 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:55 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. Trips departing Nantucket for Hyannis are scheduled at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3:15 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. The Iyanough is passenger only and all trips take one hour.
According to the Steamship Authority web site, a one-way adult ticket on the Iyanough is $29.50 and children between 5 – 12 years are $22.25. Children under are 5 free and bicycles are $6.00 These fares include a $0.50 town-mandated embarkation fee. According to the Steamship Authority, reservations are strongly recommended.
