Head On Crash Flips Jeep on Route 28 at Mashpee Town Line

COTUIT Sunday 3:00 PM Barnstable Police were notified by Mashpee Police of a rollover crash with injuries on Route 28 at the Barnstable - Mashpee Town Line. Units from Mashpee PD assisted with traffic as Barnstable Police, Cotuit Fire Rescue, and BCI  investigated the accident and treated the victims. The lead investigator is Patrol Officer Kevin Scott of Barnstable Police.

Upon arrival at the scene HyannisNews observed a Green Jeep Wagon on its side and a white Honda Accord sitting upright crosswise of the road. The front of both vehicles was demolished.

According to a witness at the scene who identified himself only as Matt the White Honda Station Wagon was making a left into Percey's Place and apparently did not see the oncoming Jeep. Upon impact the Jeep flipped up and over landing on its side.

It took several minutes to remove the victims from the Jeep. Two persons were then transported to Cape Cod Hospital by Cotuit Fire Rescue with what were described to HyannisNews by Rescue personnel as relatively minor injuries compared to what would be expected by looking at the vehicles.

The accident remains under investigation by Barnstable Police. The vehicles were removed from the scene at 4:08 PM by Bucklers towing who dispatched two wreckers.
