Blaze Severely Damages Home

CENTERVILLE - At 3:40 PM Monday, Firefighters from the Centerville - Osterville - Marstons Mills Fire District responded to a house fire at 28 Pond View near the corner Pine Street. Upon arrival they discovered the outside front of the home ablaze near the front entryway.

Barnstable Police arrived and secured the area by blocking off side streets near the scene.

COMM Fire Department had the fire under control within several minutes, however the structure required extensive overhauling because the fire had worked its way up into roof.

Eleanor Gorman, the occupant of the residence was at home at the time of the fire. It was reported that she lives there with an aide, and was believed she or her aide made the initial 911 call.  

It was also reported that the home belongs to her nephew.

According to COMM Fire Officials the cause of the fire is not known at this time and currently remains under investigation by Captain Sean Greene.  It was not believed to be suspicious in origin.
