CENTERVILLE- Multiple Barnstable Police units arrived at a residence on Shaffer Road for an out of control 19 year old man arguing with his grandfather.
While responding, officers learned that the subject had a history of violence and had been making threats that he would harm police.
Reportedly the man attempted to climb out a rear window, but was later cornered in the basement of the home.
Radio transmissions made all officers aware that he was armed with a “Butterfly Knife” as he attempted to evade police in the cellar.
After a brief radio silence a C.O.M.M. rescue unit was summoned to the scene.
The incident also drew Road Supervisor Sergeant Ben Baxter and Shift Commander Lieutenant William Packer to the scene.

A Barnstable Patrolman at the scene assured Hyannis News that all officers were safe and sound.
After a brief observation period inside of the hospital emergency room, police felt the situation was secure enough to turn the individual over to hospital security.
