HYANNIS- Barnstable and Yarmouth police questioned the passenger involved in a routine traffic stop after he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. They asked him his name and he gave false information.
. Upon further investigation officers learned that they had “Carl” Carmelo Joseph Dinatale a notorious jewelry thief wanted for Grand Larceny charges and multiple warrants up and down the East Coast, he was also featured in an America’s Most Wanted episode on September 2, 2006.
According to AMW, Dinatale has a rap sheet a mile long. He recently was believed to hiding out in the Boston area.
According to Sergeant Sean Sweeny of the Barnstable Police, Dinatale was responsible for at least one jewelry heist here in the Hyannis area.
An a alert Detective John York recognized that Dinatale’s M.O. was similar to a larceny case he had covered. Detective York jumped on the opportunity to question Dinatale. After presenting him with the evidence, Dinatale submitted a confession.
