HYANNIS - At about 11:04 PM Wednesday, Barnstable Police responded to a report of a car crash at 58 Megan Road, located a short distance from the intersection of Bearses Way and Route 28.
The driver, Angela Randall, 17, of Harwich was apparently not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She died at Cape Cod Hospital of severe head injuries a short time later. Hyannis Fire Rescue transported her from the scene. A passenger in the car who was wearing a seat belt was taken to the hospital for treatment with non life threatening injuries according to Barnstable Police Sergeant Sean Sweeney.
David Reilly a spokesman for Cape Cod Healthcare told HyannisNews that the passenger was treated and released.
The victim was driving a 2007 Ford Fusion sedan that appeared to have crashed into a fire hydrant at a high rate of speed. Barnstable Patrol Officers Troy Perry and Neil Gearin continue to investigate the accident. Officer Gearin is a well known, highly regarded, certified in collision reconstruction expert.
