Fire Claims Dennis Home

DENNIS: At about 1:15 PM on Friday afternoon, Dennis Fire Rescue responded to a report of a house fire at 9 Pond Street in Dennis. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the single story ranch home fully involved in flames. The residents were not at home at the time of the fire.

HyannisNews spoke to fire and police officials at the scene who had not yet determined the cause of the fire. Fire officials told HyannisNews that the residents had been contacted and they were awaiting their arrival. According to public records the home is the residence of Bruce Hodgkins. The home appears to be a total loss.  

The fire remains under investigation by Dennis Fire Rescue and Police officials.

	About an hour after the fire was reported and essentially estinguished, an afternoon shower helped finish the job. This plume of smoke and steam was seen rising from the fire scene as the shower passed. This HyannisNews photo was taken from a position on Station Avenue in South Yarmouth across from Union Station.
