MARSTONS MILLLS - At about 6:45 PM Barnstable Police and COMM Fire Rescue responded to an accident at the corner of Prince Avenue and Route 28. This is directly across from Route 149, a notorious location for accidents. The accident involved a late model red Ford Pickup Truck towing a large boat trailer and a white Ford Crown Victoria.
HyannisNews spoke to the driver and occupants of the Ford pickup truck that was towing the trailer. According to their statement to HyannisNews they were traveling east bound on Route 28 and had turned on their directional signal to make a right turn onto Prince Avenue on their way to pick up a boat.
They told HyannisNews that because of the length of the trailer it was necessary for them to make a wide swing to make the turn. They said the white Ford Crown Victoria at that time attempted to pass them on the right impacting the Ford Truck on its passenger side door.

The impact caused the Ford to skid into the the guard rail at the east corner of Prince Avenue causing extensive damage to the left front of the vehicle and the guard rail. A stop sign was also knocked over and police requested that NStar be advised to examine their pole as the guard rail was forced into the pole. Airbags for both the driver and passenger deployed in the Ford.
The accident is under investigation by Barnstable Police Officer Paul Everson. COMM responded but a spokesman for that Department said that no one was transported from the scene. Both the truck and the car were removed from the scene by Capeway Towing of Hyannis. It is not known if any charges will be filed at this time.
