HYANNIS: Just after midnight Barnstable Patrol Officer John Alexander was right in front of Bud’s Place on Bearses Way when a tip jar bandit came bursting out the establishment. The bartender followed promptly informing Officer Alexander that the Tip Jar Bandit had just struck and was making off with his night’s earnings.
Alexander and other officers sprung into action capturing the bandit on Castlewood Circle, less than one block away from the scene of the crime.
The thief was returned to Bud’s where the bartender positively identified him. The Tip Jar Bandit was foiled again! He was transported about 200 yards back to the Barnstable Police Facility where he was tipped off about his right to remain silent… along with other advice, photos, and prints. The Tip Jar Bandit’s reign of foolishness came to an abrupt end tonight at the former Bud’s Country Lounge.
Hyannis News spoke with the bartender and witnesses- all agreed that stealing a man’s hard-earned gratuities is probably one of the lowest crimes imaginable. Hyannis News also learned that the Bandit was not a regular and that he would not be welcomed back in the future.
