On Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at 12:18 PM—Yarmouth Police Patrol Investigator observed a known wanted person traveling as a passenger in a motor vehicle on Route 28 in South Yarmouth. Patrol Investigator Van Ness—with the assistance of fellow Patrol Officers Olivier Naas and Michael Zontini—stopped the 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier at the intersection of Pine Grove Road.
The passenger immediately attempted to exit the vehicle and run but was stopped by Patrol Investigator Van Ness. The passenger—with verbal support from the operator—then vehemently denied his true identity but that was overcome when his wallet and identification was located stuffed in the passenger door armrest.
The subject was placed in custody and transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters. He was held overnight and will be transported to the Barnstable District Court this morning.
The person arrested was identified as Troy Thatcher - Age 29 with no permanent address. His charges are listed below.
