CENTERVILLE- Friday- Barnstable Patrolman Brendan Burchill was “off-duty” when he took the initiative to effect an arrest of an elusive juvenile wanted for stealing and crashing an SUV last Sunday.  Patrolman Burchill spotted and captured the 17 year old shortly after 8:30am on Fox Hollow Road.

Since last Sunday Barnstable Police had been looking for the 6'1,” 190 lbs juvenile who allegedly crashed a vehicle that was reported stolen from Dennis.

The car was discovered by police severely damaged shortly after it crashed into a wooded area on Shoot Flying Hill Road near Wequaquet Lake Beach.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, managing to evade capture for the past 5 days.  At one point police used a tracking dog and helicopter in their attempt to apprehend the suspect (according to one Hyannis News correspondent).

The suspect, who we cannot name because of his age, will be arraigned in Juvenile Court on multiple charges.
