HYANNIS- Saturday- At approximately 10:45pm a silver Ford Focus drove straight into the West End Rotary across the grass, weaving onto West Main Street and brushing a young man riding a bike.
The elderly male driver then reportedly slowed his vehicle but did not stop. Witnesses immediately called Barnstable Police.
The bicyclist, a student from Slovakia, here working on a J-1 visa, received scrapes to his hands and was treated and released by rescue workers at the scene, refusing transport to Cape Cod Hospital.
At 11:23pm Barnstable Police Patrolman Steve O’Brien caught up to the driver as he pulled into his apartment complex at 180 West Main Street.
According to Barnstable Police Sergeant Ben Baxter, the elderly man will be charged with Hit and Run from an Accident with Personal Injury.
A Barnstable County Identification was summoned to the scene to photograph the silver Focus.

The Slovakian student injured in the accident, hand bandaged, now walking his bike, told Hyannis News that he was not going to let the driver's irresponsible actions ruin his stay in Hyannis. The student who works at a local hotel cleaning rooms, was surprisingly in good spirits, managing to make several jokes about the movie "Borat."
