UPDATED: 7:00 PM

HYANNIS - Around 1:00 PM Thursday afternoon, Yarmouth Patrol Officer Richard Fichter Jr. was tailing a car he believed was being driven by a male subject wanted on several arrest warrants. The tail crossed the town line into Barnstable. At that time Office Fichter radioed Yarmouth Dispatch asking them to notify Barnstable Police that he was into Hyannis on Route 28 and requested their assistance to make an out of town stop.

The pursuit ended at the AutoZone parking lot near the old Mildred's Chowder House. Barnstable Police met him at the scene of the stop, and the suspect was taken into custody by Yarmouth Police and transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters.

Officer Fichter was assisted by Yarmouth Police Sergeant Michael Bryant who shown in the picture with Officer Fichter adjusting the handcuffs of the suspect who was already in custody. Also assisting were Barnstable Police Patrol Officers Reed Hall and Mark McWilliams.

From information gathered at the scene, it is believed that the suspect was arrested on multiple warrants and operating a motor vehicle after revocation of license. The subject allegedly provided police with a false identity but he was eventually identified as Robert D. Foley. Foley was transported to YPD in Officer Fitcher's cruiser and then about an hour later he was transported to Barnstable District Court.
