UPDATED (VIDEO) – “SATURDAY NIGHT'S ALRIGHT FOR FIGHTING” - Fights, Drunks, Knives, BB Pistol Assault

Top Photo and Video:  The suspect in this top photo and video had reportedly been warned several times by police throughout the night prior to his arrest-  at one point he was given a break and sent away from the area only to unwisely return and cause more problems.  While being taken into custody he verbally and physically harassed officers, using lanquage that needed to be edited out.  He reportedly continued to harass officers in a beligerant and physical manner throughout the evening. Officers demonstrated a highly professional level of patience, restraint, and composure while taking this unruly individual into custody.

HYANNIS- You didn’t have to travel very far to find people acting foolish as the “Saturday Night Crowds” mingled on the sidewalks outside Main Street bars at closing. 

Surprisingly most of the bar patrons were relatively well behaved when you consider the number of people suddenly spilling out of the numerous nightclubs; most clubs were jammed-packed with college age “kids,” many of whom dehydrated from frying themselves all day on local beaches.

The steady midnight breeze was cooler and crisper than the past several nights.  Put that refreshing shot into a blender with lots of booze and a day in hot sun – we call that a “Hytown Midnight Energy Drink.”  It’s a potent concoction that suddenly turns some of the younger pups into hulking rock-and-roll cage fighters looking for the opportunity to try out their latest Jackie Chan moves.  Throw in a couple of “pocket knives” and some realistic looking pellet guns and the local constabulary finds themselves rushing back and forth breaking up cage fights, sort of like baby sitting, using squad cars - it’s a royal pain in the arse – especially when you consider all the other crimes they have to deal with in the neighborhoods.  Absurd, but that’s Main Street in the summer.

There were some fights.  There was one kid shot in the leg twice with a pellet pistol (he didn’t want to “pursue it”).  A couple of uncooperative rock-and-roll cage fighters unwisely decided not to cooperate and needed to visit the pokey.  A drunken frenzy, cast onto our main drag like so much vomit in the hallway outside a campus dorm room… all neatly video taped, edited, and posted for your viewing pleasure.  Enjoy.
