DEVELOPING STORY SEEN HERE FIRST ON HYANNIS NEWS

.

HYANNIS- At approximately 3:45am Barnstable Police Officer Dan Ruth responded to a commercial motion alarm at Kian & Rylee’s Pub and Patio.  Upon arrival Officer Ruth discovered that someone had just broken in by breaking the glass on a side door.  Ruth immediately took a position and called for backup.

Just as another car was arriving at Officer Ruth’s location, Sergeant Michael Clark stopped a man running up Winter Street several blocks away.

Officer Ruth and Officer Scott Leger, guns drawn, entered and cleared the pub.

Upon further investigation of the point of entry Officer Ruth discovered some blood and hair that looked like it came from the arm of the burglar.  He radioed that information to Sergeant Clark and learned that man caught running had a cut on his left arm.  Police now had a possible suspect.

Officer Ruth also learned that the thief left all the change in the register, taking only bills.  A business caretaker arrived and confirmed that $250 was missing from the cash drawer.

A Barnstable County Identification Officer was also called to the scene to take photos, collect finger prints, and other possible evidence.

Incident remains under investigation by Barnstable Police at the time of this report, with officers at scene going over findings with detectives early this morning.

This break in is one of several in the area of this particular block over the past month.

Hyannis News will provide updates to this story as they become available.

  • Why would anyone leave $250.00 in the cash register?
