Sunny’s no one-trick pony… plus random HyTown photos… news briefs… loose ends… [Video]
Top photo: No matter what, Sunny keeps his eye on that ball!
HN NOTE: I was planning to take the entire night off for a change when I remembered there were some lonely photos just itching to be downloaded… and, oh yeah, there was that cute video of Sunny the Wonder Horse somewhere on my memory card as well…
… I hate loose ends.
The following is an informal photo/video dump… HN surplus… the remains of the day, so to speak. [Indulge me, it’s my freaking “night off” for crying-out-loud 🙂 ]
The first photo is a look back at early yesterday morning. Where a newly promoted police Sergeant speaks with the patrol officers on his watch… all from distinctly different generations… They had just experienced the scene of a gruesome fatal traffic accident where the driver was pretty much pronounced dead on the spot. From the seasoned officer to the first year rookie, no amount of training nor experience ever prepares one for such a sight. The sane human brain is simply not wired to experience such things without some level of impact. (Firefighters are also particularly not immune… being a first responder is a challenging profession, to say the least…)
In the following photo, HN came across a domestic disturbance in a busy HyTown parking lot. Police radio transmissions reported the male may have already become physically abusive. HN observed verbal abuse… a witness approached the man to tell him to knock it off. Police arrived soon after and spoke with the couple.
Is it ever alright for a man or woman to rage at their partner in public… or anywhere for that matter?
No. Not cool EVER, so smarten up!
The following photo may have some wondering ‘what’s the point?’ Well, I’ll tell you… it’s a Great Point… and for any child who has ever watched a large twin-screw vessel backing into a slip, it’s the coolest thing since that time you caught fiddler crabs and hid them around the walls of the sand castles your sister and her friends just built. Only way cooler! (Plus, I was always told that if I ever fell in, those propellers would instantly suck me in and chop me into little bits of shark chum… which was a cool factor bonus!!)
The next photo was taken at Veteran’s Beach this past weekend. Hardy local kids out for a swim… At first I thought, “are those baby polar bears? That water is still pretty chilly…”
Nope, just typical hardy HyTown kids. HyTown kids are an especially tough breed.
And this next one speaks for itself… “gorilla holding a cage with man in it… waving at traffic…”
Okay, lets be serious for a moment.
The following mugshot was furnished by the Yarmouth Police. This past weekend, in the middle of the night, a homeowner surprised this man in the process of breaking into his vehicle parked outside in the driveway. The home owner chased the suspect and called police. At about 3:00AM, Sunday morning, Yarmouth and Barnstable cops quickly set up a perimeter in the area of Camp Street. A Barnstable K-9 unit was called in and tracked the suspect for a short distance. The dog reportedly bit the suspect while making the arrest. The suspect was treated by rescue and later transported back to YPD Headquarters for booking.
Taryn T Tinti, age 19, was charged with Breaking & Entering into a Motor Vehicle during the Nighttime.
The following photo shows Barnstable Patrolmen catching up to and checking out a man who was reportedly just involved in a fight on the Village Green. The other man required medical attention. The suspect in the photo was said to be carrying a “blackjack,” a lead-weighted deadly weapon which is a felony to merely possess. In the words of a beloved former BPD police lieutenant who taught a 1970’s course called What’s a Cop?” to local Barnstable Middle School Yutes, “it’s highly concealable and strictly illegal!”
No weapon was discovered.
And finally, the moment you’ve all been waiting for…
Sunny the Wonder Horse is no one-trick pony! Actually, his handlers say he knows over 70 tricks!
The following video captures part of Sonny’s Main Street act. It shows Sunny doing some of his special tricks, but is edited not to show them all and spoil the show.
And what a show!!!
Sunny and his handlers are planning on doing public shows every Saturday evening after 6pm throughout the summer months. Right in the ally way next to Kandy Korner…
Check them out! It’s worth making your way through the local street urchins… (And I’m told there is a second horse that comes out and does stuff too…)
[Press play… Select HD in the settings and enlarge player for best quality…]
Last, but not least, the perennial true sign of summer… the Kandy Korner black bear is in place and chained to his bench for everyone’s protection. He has been known to get cranky from all the little kids poking him with their sticky dirty little fingers… so watch your fingers kids and, by all means, don’t piss him off! Just look into those murderous bear eyes and, for the love of God, beware!

Robert Bastille,
P.S. – Today’s HyTown Vignette is brought to you by the Grateful Dead… [Do yourself a flavor and crank this one. You’re in for a guitar-pickin’ treat. Jerry Garcia at his very best. Lyrics included underneath, so feel free to follow along…]
“Eyes Of The World”
Right outside this lazy summer home
you ain’t got time to call your soul a critic no.
Right outside the lazy gate of winter’s summer home,
wond’rin’ where the nut-thatch winters,
wings a mile long just carried the bird away.
Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world,
the heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the mornin’ brings,
But the heart has its seasons, its evenin’s and songs of its own.
There comes a redeemer, and he slowly too fades away,
And there follows his wagon behind him that’s loaded with clay.
And the seeds that were silent all burst into bloom, and decay,
and night comes so quiet, it’s close on the heels of the day.
Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world,
the heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the mornin’ brings,
But the heart has its seasons, its evenin’s and songs of its own.
Sometimes we live no particular way but our own,
And sometimes we visit your country and live in your home,
sometimes we ride on your horses, sometimes we walk alone,
sometimes the songs that we hear are just songs of our own.
Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world,
the heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the mornin’ brings,
But the heart has its seasons, its evenin’s and songs of its own.
