YPD: Drunken man’s pickup left travel lane before striking 2nd vehicle head on… both drivers hurt…

YARMOUTH POLICE CONTINUE INVESTIGATION IN DRUNK DRIVING HEAD ON CRASH

On Saturday, March 4, 2017 at approximately 3PM, the Yarmouth Police and Fire Departments responded to a head-on two vehicle crash on Winslow Gray Road in West Yarmouth.

Investigation at the scene revealed a south bound vehicle left its travel lane and struck a northbound vehicle right at the curve in the roadway in the area of 160 Winslow Gray Road.

Yarmouth Police and Fire assisted both drivers who fortunately did not suffer life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles involved were destroyed and the driver of the southbound vehicle–a black 2001 Toyota Tundra Pick Up truck bearing Massachusetts registration 5CP139–was arrested for drunken driving and other criminal offenses. He was held in custody and arraigned in the Barnstable District Court yesterday.

The Yarmouth Police Department is conducting a follow-up investigation seeking information regarding the activities and actions that the arrested person was involved in prior to the crash.

    I’m surprised we don’t have more of this happening. I can’t believe the number of times in a day (every day) that I see people in front of me drifting over the middle line. Most of the time it’s clearly texting. I see it a lot on the highway too. I hope both men are okay.
