*** DEVELOPING *** DENNIS PD DISPATCH: “R.P. was woken up by a young black male in her living room… states he came in through the window…”
SOUTH DENNIS – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at about 1:16 a.m. this morning, a woman was reportedly woken up by a “young black male in her living room.” She told police that the intruder came in through a window.
Dennis Police squad cars immediately saturated the area of Wildwood Street, setting up a perimeter, which they maintained as a Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit arrived from off-Cape and hit the ground tracking. (When asked, the trooper indicated to HN there wasn’t much traffic, and as you’ll see, he and his partner were on scene relatively quickly…)
According to police radio transmissions, other state troopers also arrived in the area to assist.
Despite the head start, officers had a pretty good chance of capturing their suspect as the K-9 team began following a track which took to them to a nearby neighborhood.
Police weren’t able to capture their suspect yet, but the quick response, along with information from the K-9 and crime scene investigation unit, will hopefully provide fruitful leads.
According to radio transmissions, officers are looking for a young black male, Afro style haircut, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, who was wearing a camouflage sweatshirt during the crime.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Dennis Police Department at 508-394-1315.
The following HN Video starts with dashcam footage and call audio, it then highlights the scene shortly after the K-9 track…
