DRIVER SUSPECTED OF OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE AFTER REPORTEDLY LEAVING CRASH SCENE [HN VIDEO]
CENTERVILLE, Massachusetts – [DEVELOPING] – As you will see and hear in the following HN “video,” a 39-year-old Hyannis man is accused of taking off from a crash scene after reportedly striking a tree near the intersection of South Main Street and Craigville Beach Road early this morning.
At around 3:30 a.m., Barnstable Police received a call about a man trying to drive away from a single vehicle crash. The caller reportedly told dispatch the driver had been “unresponsive” and “knocked out” in the intersection before driving off into a tree. \
Barnstable Police patrolmen caught up to the vehicle as it was reportedly driving away from the crash scene toward Osterville. The vehicle was pulled over in the area of 600 South Main Street.
After a field sobriety investigation, the driver was arrested on the suspicion of Operating Under the Influence of alcohol or drugs… or both. The driver is also looking at being charged with other alleged motor vehicle offenses. [DEVELOPING… HN will update this report with official details as they become available.]
