Driver trapped inside wreckage after taking off from police at high speeds… [HN VIDEO]
HARWICH – A man was trapped inside a heavily damaged vehicle after slamming into a tree Monday evening.
According to police and fire radio transmissions, shortly after 10:00 p.m. last evening, Harwich Police had been engaged in a pursuit on Long Pond Drive. (According to unofficial sources, police terminated the chase as speeds increased.)
It’s uncertain what the suspect vehicle was wanted for…
Moments later police discovered the fleeing suspect vehicle crashed into a tree in the area of 200 Long Pond Drive.
Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life in order to free the male operator, who had been the sole occupant. The male was reportedly unresponsive when firefighters were responding to the scene.
Firefighters and police officers secured the male onto a stretcher. He had sustained serious trauma and was subsequently rushed to Cape Cod Hospital. Medflight was unavailable at the time due to weather…
The male patient’s current condition is unknown at the time of this report.
Accident reconstruction experts were requested to the scene to investigate.
