HYANNIS – The quiet Labor Day streets came alive this morning just before 2:30 a.m.!

Barnstable Police Officers were trying to get a suspected drunk driver to pull over and stop.

As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, the driver refused to stop. He even resorted to turning his headlights off and driving the wrong way down one-way streets in a last-ditch desperate effort to lose the cops…

… but whenever things became too reckless, Barnstable Police command ordered all officers to break off the pursuit.

Alas, officers completely lost sight of the careless driver who’s total disregard for the law put everyone at grave risk early this morning…

But as you will hear, the fact the pursuit had been called off did not deter officers from going into full investigation mode. Officers have strong leads and were still out searching at the time of this report…

UPDATE: The BPD tracked down and arrested their suspect later in the morning. The suspect is a juvenile male and police were unable to release futher details about his identity…
