WELL-DESERVED FIST BUMP: Patrol officers reunite father with runaway son… [HN PHOTOS]

HYANNIS – Barnstable Police Patrol Officers had been searching for the runaway teen for the past four hours. The investigating officer, a seasoned veteran of the force, had been scheduled to get off work a short while earlier but stayed on to continue working the case. He wanted to personally make sure the teenage boy was safely returned to his family.
Shortly after midnight, just before these photos were taken, a young Barnstable Patrolman on the midnight to eight shift recognized a teenager who fit the description. He stopped to speak with the teen in the area of Route 132 and Bearses Way. He then radioed the investigating officer, saying he was with the young man they were looking for.
Upon arrival, the investigating officer quickly exited his cruiser and spoke with the teen with a look of both worry and relief. He told the teen they had been looking all over for him, for the last four hours. Finally asking if he had a plan, obviously very concerned about him being out on the unpredictable Hyannis streets as it became later and later.
Moments later the father arrived. And as you can see in the above photo, he quickly hugged his child, both sharing a long emotional embrace. It was at this time the senior investigating officer reached out and fist bumped the younger patrolman, telling him he did a good job. The father then shook hands with each officer, thanking them for finding his son. The teen’s bicycle and bag were loaded into the family’s vehicle and the two, both father and son, drove back home.
(The teen had apparently been upset about a recent grade he received at school.)
Case closed.
