HN VIDEO: “Rolling overdose” causes serious three car “rollover” crash… closes Route 6 westbound… sends at least two to CCH…
UPDATE: The Cape Cod Times reports that Timothy Brown Jr., age 22, of Falmouth, was charged with OUI liquor & drugs, Negligent Operation, Improper Storage of a Firearm, and Carrying a Firearm while Intoxicated…
UPDATE: Although official details have not yet been released, a witness reached out to HN saying she saw the driver of the truck receive 4 to 5 doses of Narcan. Also, radio traffic called this a “rollover” crash, which is why HN put that in quotes… according to this witness, it may not have been an actual rollover… and there may have been just 2 patients transported… again, official details have not yet been released… [Developing]
YARMOUTH – [DEVELOPING DETAILS] According to radio transmissions and sources at the scene, the driver of the pickup truck had to be given one – maybe two or more – doses of Narcan to reverse what was believed to be an overdose…
… and also what allegedly caused the horrific crash.
At about 9:30PM, Massachusetts State Police, Dennis Police, Dennis Rescue, Yarmouth Police, and Yarmouth Rescue responded to the westbound lane of Route 6 for what was described as a serious rollover crash involving two, maybe three, vehicles… with multiple injuries reported.
The accident occurred just past the Bass River overpass, right near the Yarmouth/Dennis town line.
Right from the start, state troopers were concerned about the availability Narcan… and all Yarmouth and Dennis units were reportedly equipped with the life-saving opioid overdose reversing drug.
The driver of the truck was down in the roadway in front of his heavily damaged vehicle as police completely closed down Route 6 to all westbound traffic. Rescue workers spent time treating him on the asphalt, eventually placing him onto a stretcher and into an ambulance… his injuries are believed serious, but not life-threatening.
There was one (possibly two) passengers in the second vehicle, the driver was well dressed as if returning from some type of Sunday service, and said to have been traveling back from Provincetown when the accident occurred… he was alert as he was being secured onto a stretcher… (HN did not observe a second passenger…) injuries were described as potentially serious… not life-threatening…
One good sign was that troopers worked quickly to reopen the highway and that an accident reconstruction unit was not requested to respond…
The details are still developing and HN will provide updates as they become available.
The Massachusetts State Police are investigating the crash/crime scene.
The following HN Video highlights the entire scene…
