*** WATCH *** DUDE DRAGGED IN AFTER COPS SEIZE LIFTED DUDS WORTH $3,253.50 [NEW DETAILS]
HYANNIS, Massachusetts – [THE REST OF THE STORY] – According to a property form filed in Barnstable District Court, the total value of the assorted clothing items allegedly stolen from Macy’s came to a grand total of $3,253.50.
On Friday, January 5, 2024, Barnstable Police Patrolman Eric Rogorzenski received a report of a larceny from Macy’s at the Cape Cod Mall. According to Officer Rogorzenski’s arrest report, dispatch had notified responding cruisers that the involved individual had fled in a white Cadillac in an unknown direction. It was initially believed the individual had just taken about $1500 worth of clothing. As mentioned above, the total value of the alleged stolen merchandise turned out to be over double that amount.
Patrolman Rogorzenski had been traveling along Route 28 toward Hyannis when he reportedly spotted a white Cadillac traveling in the opposite direction. The vehicle’s description and license plate matched the details put out over the radio. Patrolman Rogorzenski reportedly spun around and stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Rte. 28 and Strawberry Hill Road. When the patrolman approached the vehicle, he reportedly observed a pile of men’s clothing in the backseat with price tags and coat hangers. The driver and passenger were ordered out and detained in handcuffs.
After having been read his rights, the passenger reportedly told officers he was responsible for taking all of the clothing and that the driver was not involved.
Leo Anzivino, 33, of West Bridgewater, now staying in Falmouth, was arrested and charged with Felony Larceny Over $1200.
The driver was released from the scene.
The alleged stolen clothing was returned and handed over to Macy’s staff.
* NOTE: The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. [Top HN photos: car stop arrest and BPD booking photo of Anzivino/HN edits…]
