According to Barnstable police reports, there were at least four victims filed on record with the criminal complaint listing the aforemention nine allegations… and there was were at least six witnesses who came forward on record. There is also hotel surveilance video, witness cellphone video, and police bodycam video.
Some of the acts that allegedly occurred inside the hotel and out in the middle of busy Rte. 132, described by police officers in their reports, are too sordid for publication. The alleged acts would likely shock and possibly victimized anyone who was nearby and subjected to seeing what had allegedly unfolded Tuesday evening.
According to one police report, the hotel clerk and a guest left when Gortz reportedly entered the hotel front office area naked and jumped up on the counter, “[The front desk clerk] and guest then separately leave the desk area with a look of shock and disgust on their face.”
According to one patrolwoman’s report, during Gortz’s alleged rampage, a female passenger of a vehicle called dispatch reporting that “an unknown male was completely naked covered with blood and had jumped onto the hood of the car her father was driving. [The father] was operating the vehicle on Iyannough Rd RTE 132 headed towards Attucks Lane. [The father] continued driving forward in fear that this male would harm his family that was inside the car. [The father] was able to stop the vehicle and the male fell off the hood of the vehicle onto Iyannough Rd RTE 132.” The daughter, father, and two other female family members were advised to drive to the nearby Barnstable police station, where officers reportedly observed blood on the windshield and hood of the vehicle. Their windshield wipers were described as damaged, with a hypodermic needle jammed into one of the wipers. The needle was loaded with a red substance and covered with blood. All four family members reportedly told the patrolwoman they were extremely shocked, alarmed and disturbed by the male’s nudity.
The first officers on scene reportedly found Gortz in the middle of Rte 132. He was reportedly observed naked, banging on the sides of vehicles in traffic, which had just come to a stop. He was said to be covered with sweat and blood. He reportedly ignored the commands of the first officer, continuing to yell and scream profanities at people in traffic. The suspect was said to be difficult to get a physical hold on because of the sweat and blood. He reportedly attempted to gain entry to one police cruiser, and at one point grabbed hold of the steering wheel. Officers feared he might attempt to steal the police cruiser and were able to eventually get him onto the ground in the middle of Rte 132. The suspect allegedly spit at officers and verbally threatened exposing them to other bodily fluids. A “spit shield” was reportedly placed on the suspect once he was in custody. All the officers were reportedly contaminated by bodily fluids to some degree.
One patrolman was reportedly transported to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation due to bodily fluid contamination from the suspect. His arms and uniform were reportedly contaminated with a quantity of the naked man’s blood, spit, and possibly feces. The police cruisers were also reportedly contaminated with bodily fluids, inside and out.

READ HN’S INITIAL REPORT & WATCH VIDEO:
HYANNIS/BARNSTABLE, Massachusetts – A 29-year-old man from Marstons Mills who is accused of threatening hotel staff by entering the front office without clothes on, while holding a knife and at least one syringe, jumping up on the front desk counter and smashing one of the hotel’s computers, was eventually arrested in the middle of Rte. 132 jumping onto vehicles in traffic, while covered with blood, and was said to be likely high on drugs, according to several police sources.
And most of the man’s alleged “buck wild” rampage (which allegedly included a number of things not fit for print) was reportedly seen by many witnesses and caught on hotel cameras!
As you will hear in the following HN Video, at around 8:00 p.m. last evening, Barnstable police officers were called to the Best Western Hotel on Route 132 for a report of a man with no clothes on attacking one of the workers inside the hotel. Moments later, responding officers reported the man had made his way into the middle of Rte. 132, where he was said to have been trying to jump on vehicles…
… and he actually made his way onto the hood of at least one vehicle, according to sources.
The naked man was reportedly covered with blood when officers needed to go “hands on.” While being taken into custody he allegedly spit on one of the officers. The man was then transported to Cape Cod Hospital in police custody with at least two cruisers following the ambulance.
No officers were seriously hurt, but at least one officer needed to be taken out of service because of “contamination issues,” from coming into contact with blood and other bodily fluids. (All of the officers involved in the arrest were said to have been contaminated to some degree.)
There was reportedly blood on and inside at least one police cruiser. There was also blood on the roadway and other vehicles. At least one vehicle went to nearby police headquarters, reporting a damaged windshield.
A section of Route 132 needed to be shut down for a period of time while officers made the arrest, according to radio transmissions.
A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to both the hotel and police headquarters to photograph evidence, damage and blood. Officers never found the knife that was reportedly seen on video in the man’s hand while he was up on the counter. But officers did reportedly find a syringe jabbed into the windshield wiper of one of the vehicle’s that went to police headquarters to report vandalism.
It is believed the man was staying at the hotel, which was full of visitors when the rampage was reported. Officers reportedly entered one of the rooms, photographed and collected evidence that was said to be drug related.
Cameron Gortz, 29, whose last known address was in Marstons Mills, is accused of committing a number of crimes, according to police. He was still in police custody at Cape Cod Hospital at the time of this report, but once released from the hospital he is expected to be arraigned on two counts of Disorderly Conduct, A&B on a Police Officer, Vandalism, three counts Open & Gross, and several counts of Malicious Destruction (including malicious destruction of a motor vehicle).
