Driver entrapped after cement mixer strikes tree with close to 40,000 lbs. of concrete on board… [HN VIDEO]

WEST BARNSTABLE – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video (containing West Barnstable FD and HN photos) police and firefighters responded to a single vehicle crash where a fully loaded cement mixer had just struck a tree at about 12:08 p.m., yesterday afternoon.
The driver was entrapped and had to be extricated from the cab by firefighters before being eventually was transported via ambulance to the South Shore Hospital trauma center. A Medflight helicopter was initially called but eventually had turn back due to weather concerns.
According to a source, the cement mixer barrel was fully loaded with nearly 40,000 lbs of concrete before becoming completely detached from the truck body.
There was also was a large diesel fuel spill that had to be dealt with.
It is suspected the truck left the roadway due to a blown right front tire.
