INITIAL HN REPORT:
HYANNIS – Four souls (all young men) were brought back to Hyannis Harbor after being rescued from the waters off Point Gammon early this morning.
The Coast Guard, Hyannis Fire Department, Barnstable Police, and other local fire departments scrambled toward a sinking vessel this morning around midnight. According to radio transmissions, a boat began taking on water off Point Gannon. (Listen to the call audio, it sounded like it may have been a fifty-five foot boat… but that has not been officially confirmed.)
The four young men on-board had to abandon ship and don survival suits. One radio transmission mentioned a life boat. They were all safely rescued from the treacherous waters just outside of Lewis Bay by a Coast Guard vessel.
As you will see in the following HN Video, the young men were brought back to the School Street Docks in Hyannis. There were no reported injuries. HN will provide official updates as they become available.
