BARNSTABLE – About 10:00 p.m. state police and Barnstable FD firefighters rushed to Route 6 eastbound, a short distance past the old Exit 6, for a fully involved car fire. The fire was called in by a motorist. The first trooper on scene observed explosions and fire extending into the nearby woods. The first engine crew on scene quickly charged a hand line, attacking the engine block flames first. Traffic was heavy and backed up due to the highway being completely shut down for a period of time. The vehicle was towed and all emergency vehicles were clearing the scene at around 10:30 p.m..
