*** WATCH *** [NEW DETAILS!] HIGHSPEED PURSUIT ENDS IN CRASH… PREGNANT WIFE AND COUSIN ARRIVE TO CONVINCE SUSPECT TO SURRENDER SAFELY…
UPDATE from Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police Media Relations unit:
At 1:25 a.m. today a State Trooper patrolling Route 6 west in Bourne observed the driver of a 2011 Nissan Altima using his cell phone, a violation of the hands-free law. When the Trooper attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, the driver fled westbound on Route 6. The Trooper began to pursue the suspect vehicle but terminated pursuit when the driver entered Grandma’s Rotary in Bourne going in the wrong direction.
The suspect subsequently crashed at the intersection of Main Street and Wagner Way. The male suspect bailed out of the vehicle and ran behind a building at 258 Main St.Patrols and an MSP K9 team began searching for the suspect.
Meanwhile, a Trooper located a government document in the vehicle with the name of JUAN SANCHEZ, 18, of Hyannis, and a photo that matched the description of the driver.
After contacting a family member, the suspect, confirmed to be SANCHEZ, returned to the scene. He was found to not have an active driver’s license. He was charged with failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, holding an electronic device while driving, wrong way violation, marked lanes violation, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. SANCHEZ was transported to the State Police-Bourne Barracks, where he was booked. A bail clerk was contacted and set bail at $1,040. SANCHEZ posted the bail later in the morning and was released pending his court appearance this coming week.

INITIAL HN REPORT:
BOURNE, Massachusetts – Speeds exceeded one hundred miles per hour before heading the wrong way into Bourne’s “Grandma’s” rotary and crashing on Main Street, according to Massachusetts State Police radio transmissions.
The pursuit happened on Route 6 in Bourne shortly after 1:00 a.m. this morning…
According to U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services paperwork found at the crash scene with a photo, an 18-year-old, described as a young Hispanic male, with a “sponsor” in Hyannis fled the scene on foot, according to radio transmissions. A state police K9 unit arrived and began tracking the suspect to the rear of some businesses as Bourne Police squad cars assisted by saturating the area and setting up a perimeter.
Not long after the K9 track started, a woman who said she was related to the fleeing suspect arrived on scene after receiving a phone call from him. HN later had a conversation with the woman in Spanish and learned that the suspect had just turned 18-years-old and that his young “wife” was pregnant … and both her and the wife came to the scene to help talk the young man into surrendering safely. As you will see in the following HN Video, both the cousin and wife were extremely worried about the suspect… and both realized that things could have ended much worse… as officers were closing in and he could have very likely been bitten…
As you will see in the following HN video, the cousin and wife managed to convince the young man to come out from hiding and surrender without further incident. Troopers appeared thankful for the assistance that allowed the suspect to be taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was transported under arrest to the Massachusetts State Police barracks in Bourne.
The following HN Video contains state police radio transmissions along with footage of the scene and arrest…
