MARSTONS MILLS – At about 6:30am, a young father awoke to find a complete stranger sleeping on his couch…
The father, who had a 2-week-old infant and a 2-year-old toddler sleeping nearby, grabbed the intruder and called police…
Barnstable Police dispatched two patrol cars along with a supervisor to a home on Wakeby Road…
Police arrived and arrested Daniel Kelley, age 26, of 184 Wakeby Road for Breaking and Entering and Protective Custody for being intoxicated…
According to sources, Kelley had been drinking and went looking for a place to sleep… only he picked the wrong house just blocks away from his own… Kelley somehow stumbled into a rear bulkhead at the victim’s address where he managed to climb a rotted staircase leading into the residence…
Kelley was transported back to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking…
The family remained on scene, shocked at what had just happened…
Hyannis News spoke with the young father who owns a masonry business and was getting ready to meet his employees who were just arriving in his driveway… The father confirmed he did not know Kelley… He said that when he grabbed the intruder, he also managed to grab and look inside the stranger’s wallet… he checked the man’s identification and was shocked to learn he was someone he had never seen or heard of…
